Thong Lok Seafood Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Tanjung Tualang, is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts. Echoing rave reviews from patrons like Cecilia Chin Kee, the restaurant serves up yummylicious dishes that showcase the freshness and flavors of their seafood. Known for its giant freshwater prawns, guests have highlighted the stir-fried variety as a standout choice, praised not only for its taste but also for its generous portion sizes. TY Tham lauded the homemade chili sauce, elevating the seafood experience to new heights.
However, the dining environment has room for enhancement. While the food quality is consistently high, as noted by Stanley Chan, the open layout invites unwelcome guests like flies, and the proximity of live seafood tanks could potentially dampen the ambiance. A more enclosed and comfortable setting would perfectly complement the exquisite cuisine.
Overall, Kchuan Aw encapsulates the appeal: a typical local seafood restaurant with friendly staff, reasonable prices, and delicious offerings. Thong Lok Seafood Restaurant is a culinary gem that deserves a visit—but a few improvements in ambience could make it shine even brighter.

Reviews for Thong Lok Seafood Restaurant
Review highlights
Based on 1,520 reviewsThong Lok Seafood Restaurant in Tanjung Tualang is widely praised for its fresh and flavorful seafood, particularly the large freshwater prawns prepared in various popular styles. Diners appreciate the reasonable pricing and consistent quality maintained over the years. The restaurant's local, village-like setting and friendly staff contribute positively to the overall experience. However, some feedback highlights that the dining environment could benefit from improvements, especially regarding cleanliness and ambience, as the open-air setup occasionally attracts flies. Despite this, the focus on quality food and welcoming service continues to draw a loyal crowd, making it a notable destination for seafood enthusiasts in the region.
Seafood here was yummylicious – fresh and flavourful! We truly enjoyed the taste, and the price was fair for what we were served. However, the dining environment could definitely be improved. It’s not a closed-up space, so there were a few flies around, which was a bit of a nuisance. Still, we managed and focused on the great food. It would be nice if could consider it by upgrading the ambience to match the quality of the seafood – perhaps a more comfortable, enclosed dining area. Also, the container-reared prawns and fish being placed right next to the seating area caused some fishy smells, which slightly affected the dining experience. It might be better to relocate those tanks to a different area. All in all, the food deserves praise – just hope the dining atmosphere can be enhanced to make the overall experience more enjoyable!
Amazing place to eat (the crowd says it all). Was given a really good place in a private room to eat which was really helpful since we have a baby with us. Come here for the fresh big prawns (stir fried is our favorite) and other dishes are pretty good too!
Heard so much of their seafood especially the fresh water prawns...well its really good and the home made chilly sauce ..just so good!!
Famous seafood restaurant at Tanjung Tualang. Last came was about 10 years ago. Surprisingly the taste still maintain the same. The prawn is very big and fresh. Tried the two most popular way of serving the prawn, which is steam and fried. Both are nice. Overall the taste of all the dishes are good. The price is also reasonable.
Typical local seafood restaurant. Nice village environment. The owner and the staff are friendly. Food is good, with reasonable price
Their Prawn are very fresh, big and yummy. However, of course you'll paying premium for their king Prawn. Only few tables within aircon room, you also can eat outside without aircon. Finding car parking during weekends dinner time might be challenging. Better come before 6pm.
